Gumby’s Pizza Menu

After New York, I find it difficult to like Michigan pizza. However, Gumby's is not as bad as the cartoon it's named after. I swore off it my first year at school because I found a hair (blonde, not like my dark locks) in the pokey stix. However, I gave it another try (a rarity for me) and although I'm not a huge fan of the greasy pokey stix that catch many a college students' fancy, I do enjoy their pizzas. I am a devout fan of garlic and believe it should be an ingredient in every type of food. The fact that they allow you to have garlic on top of your pizza is unique in East Lansing, making Gumby's my pizza joint of choice.

4 stars for the Pokey Stix, minus-one star for the crappy pizza. If you have ever been in East Lansing, be it a student or visiting a friend or just randomly walked 10 miles from Okemos, this place is definitely worth trying -- preferably when inebriated. Pokey Stix are just bread, yeah. I realize this. But there's just something addicting about it, so much so that me and a friend or two would kill a large on our best nights. We would all feel strange the next morning, like our bodies were pregnant with yeast, but it was all worth it. It was part of my college experience. I heard they changed the name to something stupid, which is unfortunate. And the pizza is average, at best. If you grab some Pokey Stix though, you will not regret it!

I never really understood the fascination with this place. Now called Gumba's due to some royalty issues, it still serves the same pokey stix and the same awful pizza. I want to write a longer review, but pokey stix are the only good thing on the menu; and even then, they're just pizza dough with herbs and a little cheese. I haven't tried any of their sides since they became Gumba's, but I'm sure that they are still sad and uneventful. Maybe the next Groupon deal, I'll give them another try, but for now I'm sticking with B***'s for my late night pizza.

I friggin love pokey stix. So I haven't had them in a while and was feeling spontaneous today. Thought I'd fall into a food coma in front of the tv and be real real happy. They messed up our order not one, but two times. And simply said sorry. And left me with four pizzas and no pokey stix. What a waste of the driver's time and of my money. I've had a couple problems the last few times I've ordered from there. That was the last straw. The pokey stix are great. Just beware that if it's a weekend they pretty much don't pay attention to what people order and don't really care to get it straight. Even when I called they were like oh I guess we'll send you another one. No sorry.

Pokey Stix. The pizza kind of sucks, so this review is purely for breadsticks, which is all anyone ever needs.

Love me some Pokey Stix!!! I have many fond memories of eating Pokey Stix in my college days (not MSU), but I do wind up in Lansing about once a year to see the wifes family. I always make it my business to try and get an order. Still as good as I remember, especially after a few beers.

Never understood the hype. Pokey stix are over-glorified cheesey breads that do not make me happy.

POKEY STIX!! POKEY STIX!! POKEY STIX!! POKEY STIX!! POKEY STIX!! Need I say more? I don't come here for pizza, I order only the Pokey Stix. I truly wish they were located in Illinois or at least allow us to order and they can deliver/ship it.

There's nothing like munching on Pokey Stix after drinking lots of beer and Blackhaus! Essentially, Pokey Stix are like bread sticks, but are a sliced pizza crust with cheese baked onto it served with pizza sauce into which you can dip said dough. I do prefer Pizza Villa (NIU) beer nuggets to Gumby's version of dough-dipping-delight, but Gumby does keep the belly happy. I haven't had Gumby's pizza, but his clay-mation TV show has in the past entertained me, especially on April 20th.

4.5 stars??? for Gumby's?? are we eating the same pizza? Yes...Pokey stix are delish but the pizza is pretty bad. Plus...have you ever eaten the pizza (or even pokey stix for that matter) sober? Completely different experience... and that experience is definitely not as good!!!

Man I miss Gumby's Pizza. I'm seriously considering opening a Gumby's franchise in DC just so I can get my Gumby's fix. Granted, it's not for everyone, but it's so hard to find that giant slice-bigger-than-my-head-so-thin-its-stuck-to-the-pizza-box-oh-wait-is-that-a-pizza-box-or-a-slice-of-pizza pizza anywhere else.

Pokey stix is where it's at. This was a Sat. tradition for my friends and I for I don't know how long. The pizza itself isn't anything to write home. One time we got the 20" pizza they have- kinda dry, and lacking on the toppings. Pokey stix are the only thing worth getting here.

Food: 4 stars Service: 4 (fast food) Ambiance: 1 (fast food) Overall: 4 stars Just got the Pokey sticks... very yummy. Don't suggest getting the garlic sauce - too oily. Ambience is 1 only cuz it's meant to be a take-out joint. they have two arcade games though. No restrooms... boo!

I too miss Pokey Sticks more than words can describe. I'm sure this review is almost unnecessary... everyone at MSU has had these little pieces of heaven at some point. Pokey Sticks are an out of body experience.

The best part of Gumby's is its price. $7.99 for a large one topping for pick up is quite reasonable. Everyone seems to be digging the Pokey Stix, but we only had enough funds to get either the pizza or the stix. The pie is rather disappointing, but I suppose did the job in a pinch. After eating the pizza, I'm thinking we should have gone with the stix.

I don't get it. Pokey Sticks are just cheese bread. Average pizza place.

Your classic across from college pizza place. More of a carryout or delivery place but they do have seating for small crowds. The pizza was not all that great but the pokey sticks were amazing! I would go back just for those!

Pokey stix. Hands down. The pizza has gone down a bit, but they've expanded their menu to include rice bowls and other dishes.

Well, for me Sunday nights without grossalicious dorm food was a godsend and Gumby's was a fantastically cheap alternative. Maybe the pizza has gotten worse over time, but I remember the crack-laden sauce. Damn, was that stuff addictive. Pokey sticks were guaranteed to be delicious, and the marinara took them to another level.
